Dan Michaelson is Dan Michaelson of Dan Michaelson and the Coastguards. After his band Absentee took early retirement due to back pain, he decided to start work on a solo album. After several embarassing phone calls and the odd spelling mistake, renound Icelandic producer Valgier Sigurdsson (bjork, bonnie"prince"billy, Sigur Ros) came over to stay in London and produce the tracks Michaelson had written. Quite surprised that he was interested, Dan then created the Coastguards, quietly fooling some of Londons most talented players into working with him. Among those appearing on that first record are: Henry (from the band Fields)
