With a name like Frugal Father and the tagline of “I don’t have kids,” Mac Welch brings a sense of humor to his own genre-bending sound. “Red Headed Hipster” is a shadowy track with tongue-in-cheek lyrics and deep reverbs reminiscent of LCD Soundsystem. While he has been compared to James Murphy, it’s fair to draw associations with Matthew Dear for his slow-throb robotic vocals. Regardless of what comparisons you choose to make, however, Frugal Father will have you swaying along in no time.
