Slackwax combines two musical masterminds – Peter Hoppe and Bernd Batke - and a blend of musical styles, that have their roots in traditional genres like Country, Jazz, Blues and R&B. In contrast the production is hyper-modern and involves electronica and leftfield-downbeats. This inspired interpretation is no surprise, given the musicians involved: on one hand Peter Hoppe is playing with and producing internationally acclaimed projects like Boozoo Bajou, Trio Electrico and Trinah, all of which are celebrated acts in German electronica-scene, while singer Bernd Batke fronts the country-band Smokestack Lightnin. Together their extraordinary talents guarantee for an exciting update on the possibilities of modern composing and music-production: their cover-version of the Canned Heat classic On the road again” is very effective, since the song is stripped-down to the minimum, focusing mainly on groove and vocals. The car-manufacturer Mercedes Benz have chosen to launch their new massive TV-campaign for the new model SLK with this song in March 2008! The advertising-spot is very atmospheric in it..s presentation and puts the track “On the road again” in the center of attention. Now available as a download-only EP, Slackwax present a very remarkable debut!
