[00:17.55]Cuz they was newly married and I was their first child
[00:20.30]My pop was from Jersey my mom was from Miami
[00:23.03]They met in the bed stuy Brooklyn NYC
[00:25.52]At Art College and yes they was hippies
[00:28.65]So I guess that makes me child of the sixties
[00:31.31]But anyways we didn’t stay we moved to plant city
[00:33.40]Then to Lakeland then to Miami then to Ybor city
[00:36.37]Living in the hood where things are never ever pretty
[00:38.76]The only white kid smack dab in the inner city
[00:41.09]My playground is a parking lot plus a back ally
[00:43.56]At times I would wake up in the dark with no electricity
[00:45.94]On top of that we were struggling cause we got no money
[00:48.55]And going through this inside it’s killing me

[01:15.15]Things began to change everything I knew was up and gone
[01:18.15]They separated on the weekends I would see my mom
[01:19.83]Still living with my pops in my hood but not for too long
[01:21.92]When I was nine they divorced and I was moving on
[01:24.61]To the suburbs with my mom cause courts said it was wrong
[01:26.06]For me to be living in the hood with my dad so I’m up and gone
[01:29.27]Mom remarried and had a baby we living in my grandmas home
[01:32.16]We living in a neighborhood that’s middle class
[01:36.32]But I felt poor because of some things I didn't have
[01:38.61]Time passed we moved out but still thing ain't right
[01:41.16]I'm slipping fast at home all I do is fight and yell
[01:43.80]My grades start to crash plus I ran away from home twice
[01:46.15]And almost got shot by the cops one single night
[01:48.79]I started high school and party all the time
[01:51.33]But little did I know what was gonna happen to my life

[02:19.91]I picked up his bible and started reading revelations
[02:22.59]For some reason I was crying when I reach the ending
[02:25.00]Now God was working on me and this was the beginning
[02:27.51]The first time in a long while that I started praying
[02:30.06]I had to move again and again and say goodbye to everyone
[02:31.11]My dad and my friends was once again all up and gone
[02:34.97]Brand new school by myself sitting all alone
[02:37.98]Feeling like a fool every single day I'm coming home
[02:40.37]But I would listen every night in my bedroom to Gospel radio preach about Christ and just then soon

[03:39.36]Writing rhymes in my spare time for my CD
[03:41.68]I mailed my demo to a label named Gotee
[03:44.38]And out of nowhere Todd Collins up and called me
[03:46.71]He said he heard my junk and plus he wanted to sign me
[03:49.39]My heart jumped and plus I want to cry and scream
[03:52.24]But all I did was hung up the phone quietly and thinked God how he always provided for me
