I also grew up when jazz music was reaching new heights by incorporating the tradition while stretching those boundaries. Perhaps jazz has always done that. It is one thing to look back at the history of jazz and realize jazz has always pushed the limits, but it is another to grow up in an environment where the talents of people like Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter pushed music compositionally and performance-wise to another level. For this recording I wanted to document some of my favorite composers and musicians that really inspires me. This music covers a vast array of artists and a wide range of music history. It has one theme in common and that is that it is all great music.Kim PensylTrack Listing:1. Blackbird (5:55) (Lennon and McCartney) Sony, ATV Music Publishing2.
