ShoesMy name is Chris Shoemaker and I'm a musician hailing from Alexandria, VA which is most well-known for its rich history and architecture, but not necessarily for its music scene. I spent about one year writing, recording, and mixing the songs that appear on my new CD"Let's Make This Unforgettable" and I have never been more excited about a music project. I have been a musician all of my life, developing my skills into an expert level on guitar, drums, bass, and singing. I performed all of these instruments on this CD I am submitting and I think the 8 songs on this album will demonstrate my musical ability, knowledge of music theory, professionalism, and most importantly, my love and passion for music."Let's Make This Unforgettable" is an album in which I delve into different levels of rock and explore my creativity and curiosity for the sake of trying something new. Songs such as"Sent Down" and"Operations" have a bit more of a hard rock/metal element with double-bass grooves and aggressive vocals."Purpose of the Moon" and"Let's Make this Unforgettable" are more of the alternative rock ballads including a few interesting twists with the addition of keyboards and a pan flute; while"My Rising Sun","All I can Give", and"Motionless" are what you may hear on the radio with their ability to get stuck in your head. I would define my overall sound as an Incubus and Sevendust sandwich with A Day to Remember on the side. I have just completed a new song entitled"Hidden in Mexico", which is my personal favorite. Take a listen!My dream has always been to make it big in the music industry and I've thought that the moment I see my face on a t-shirt, I could retire! But the reality is that I feel as though I've found my niche with music performance and writing. I've spent the past two years working behind a desk as a program analyst for a defense contractor, and I made the"bold" decision to leave the comfort of a Government job and pursue a music career. I'm in competition with thousands, if not millions of others to get their name out to the public and sell tickets to their shows, but my determination and perseverance sets me apart from the rest. As a 25 year-old, I feel like my dream is still obtainable and I could do great things for the music industry by writing or performing music.SInce 1998 I have played in various bands throughout Virginia. This includes playing drums for my high school jazz band to playing in front of a near sold out crowd at the NORVA in Norfolk, VA with my college band Clock Strikes Murder (Hunt Records). Clock Strikes Murder was a MetalCore band based in Chesapeake, VA. We played shows all over Virginia and North Carolina until mid 2008 when we disbanded. Our reputation was built on more than our sound, it was our stage presence and the energy we could bring to our shows that ultimately augmented our fan base. Over the years I have gained knowledge though experience and learning from other artists about the music industry, and life in general as a musician. I feel more comfortable on stage or in front of manuscript paper than I do in my own bed. I live for music as it courses through my veins.
