Taking their name from 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, this Brooklyn, NY based duo made a stir with their unique collisions of new wave, ethereal acoustic sounds, and inspired indie rock. On their debut album Signs Of Life, Luke McCartney and Dennis Tyhacz composed 17 original songs that exhibit a wide stylistic range for the listener.Given the fact that Signs Of Life was recorded in a tiny apartment, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, outside of the confines of recording studios, McCartney and Tyhacz were able to concentrate on crafting songs without time constraints, using everything from glockenspiels and acoustic guitars, to overdriven amps and drum machines. While most artists' influences and musical styles tend to be associated with a particular decade, or musical movement, NEMO's music stems from a variety of influences from the 60's to today.
