I started working on this album in 2010 with great intentions to record, mix, and produce the album using only equipment I had or could borrow, in spaces that were free and available... a completely “independent” (and inexpensive) endeavor. I had only intended it to be a two month project, but I soon found out that time frame was a bit too ambitious. Then life threw me some unexpected and difficult circumstances, and recording had to take a backseat to life. I’ve often heard it said that anything worth doing is worth doing well, so it was difficult for me to accept that I could not do this album “perfectly.” Yet this past year has taught me that life is messy and imperfect, and if art and life imitate each other, then my music would (and could) be imperfect as well.
