Gabriela Castro was born in Palo Alto, California, on December 26, 1994. Her parents exposed her to music at a very young age, playing cassettes and CDs whenever possible. Her dad would play Madonna, Rod Stewart, and Michael Jackson’s hits while her mom would play Bach, Simon and Garfunkel, and Shania Twain. Gaby has always been a writer; in elementary school, teachers recognized her as an amazing writer for her age. In 6th grade, she was enrolled in a chorus class, and once Gaby started singing, she couldn’t stop. At the age of 12, Gaby wrote her first song. It was about what many middle schoolers go through: the pain of being rejected by classmates, and wanting to have friends and be accepted. That was the beginning of Gaby’s new passion: songwriting. It became her way of letting go of her feelings, and letting her creativity flow. Combine that with her love of singing, and now she was a singer-songwriter.
