After their earlier release"System" Pegasi 51 went looking for a new sound that was more distinct and experimental, so in June of 1999 they enlisted the musical talent of longtime friend Toby Stapleton to lend a hand on their new project. Stapleton not only colored the new album with keyboards and synthesizer but also laid the groundwork for a unique sound that carved a niche into the Pegasi library unlike any other. The resulting project entitled"Space Riot" was officially released in June of 1999. Space Riot was Pegasi51's staple"space rock" album. Included a cover of Joy Division's song"No Love Lost". Approximately 400 original copies were made.
