Joyously romping grooves from Auteur Jazz -- acombo who take the modal style of the 60s Europeanscene, and infuse it with a few contemporarytouches of their own! The group are a bit moreopen-ended than some of the other club jazz comboson the Ricky Tick label -- willing to stretch outin some occasional exploratory modes or mellowermoments, then step back with a hard-hitting grooveto round things in place -- often getting asurprisingly rich sound from their relatively smalllineup, which is mostly based around reeds andpiano from Antti Hynninen, but also featuresoccasional other saxes, strings, keyboards, andpercussion.
