Doom & the Bloom is the debut album release from the artist, J's Tonic. A self-penned collection of songs written between 2004 and 2011 by UK songwriter James Moss. The vocal and acoustic bones of the album were recorded over the summer of 2011 in Perthshire, Scotland. The songs were then mixed and mastered in the late-summer / autumn of 2011 in London, England. The tone of the album is drawn from sensations and experiences of life thoughout the songwriter's late-teens & 20's; blending matter-of-fact lyrical confrontation, with elements of fanasty and imagination. Held together by melodic guitars, stoic beats and electric/ambient scenery, over the course of the album, aggressive impulses succumb to pacifying melodies, accompanied throughout by the patter of lyrical exploration and meanderings that tread the tight-rope between meloncholic gloom and blossoms of contentment. In essence, a perspective on the doom and the bloom of everyday life.
