'Song for a Boy' was written in the aftermath of the 9/11 tragedy. At the time, our sons and their friends were just small boys and they loved playing armies. They used to dress in camouflage outfits all the time (even used to go to bed in them!) and our house was covered in little green plastic army men. Then came the terrible event of 9/11 - the news was everywhere and it was impossible to shield them from it. They stopped playing armies and put away their little soldiers because as they said 'People really do get dead, don't they?' This tragic devastating event took away a little of our sons innocence. 'Song for a Boy' is a track from an earlier album of ours - Ghosts of Wasted Chances. Although our boys are now strapping teenagers, we still sing this song at special gigs and ten years on, it still resonates and I can still remember their reaction so vividly.
