Award-winning teen alt-country sensation Torri Melhart is growing up, and so is her music.At age 15, this 10th grade native of Corpus Christi, TX (who now lives in West Chester, PA) has completed her follow-up CD,"Not A Fairytale", released in early 2014 on iTunes. While her music is evolving, her unique voice still portrays a girlish vulnerability and her clever, catchy songwriting sets her apart."I put a lot more of myself and my own experiences into my new album", says Torri. In doing so, the time she spent on songwriting became a very emotional experience for her, as she opens up about personal moments of joy, heartbreak, and struggles beyond those typically seen with someone her age."I have gotten stronger in the past year", she says, and it shows in her growing confidence as a musician who has been"paying her dues".Torri has earned a reputation for writing honest, country-soaked music that connects with people of all ages on an emotional level, garnering her a legion of loyal fans at her shows and through social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. Her online presence underscores her rising stardom with thousands devoted"Melhearts" which keeps her busy."There are so many really sweet fans who cheer me on and leave me messages", although she admits it's sometimes very time-consuming to keep up with all of their tweets and posts."I want people to know that I'm just a regular girl and will talk to them."Along with preparing the new CD, Torri spent last year performing shows throughout eastern and central PA as well as Nashville and New York City, where she was featured on the Pop City Tour with teen"X-Factor" finalist Reed Deming.But Torri also has a heart as big as her voice, and she believes in giving back. Last summer, she spent a week in rural Kentucky with members of her church on a mission project to help rebuild houses for people in need."I have been very blessed in my life, and I never want to take all this for granted", she adds.
