TONY GOODACRE – 26 MORE FAVOURITES Only four of Tony’s many albums are currently available for digital download and streaming through cdbaby.com, and all four feature just original songs selected from the publishing catalogue of his own company Sylvantone Music. Tony has recorded over 300 different tracks, currently available on CD, and after many requests, he has now compiled some of his favourite tracks, including covers, all of which are available digitally through CDbaby, and most of your other regular download and streaming sites. There are many highlights to be found. On 31st May 1978, Tony went into the recording studio in Nashville to record an album, including the song that was number 1 in the country charts at that time - The Statler Brothers ‘Do You Know You are my Sunshine’. Another Nashville recorded track is ‘Susan Flowers’, song of the year in Canada for the writer Dick Damron, with whom he worked several times in the U.K. in the 1970’s. Track 1 ‘Lucy Ain’t your Loser Looking Good’, was the regular opening number for his roadshow with his full nine piece session band in 1984 featuring Derek Thurlby on steel, dobro and lead guitar and Gerry Hale on Fiddle. You’ll hear both these great musicians on several tracks on this album. Listen to Derek in particular on dobro on track 8 playing the Lloyd Green part on George Hamilton IV’s surprise chart hit in the U.K. and on steel guitar on track 19, on George Margan’s 1978 hit ‘Mr. Ting-a-Ling’. Steve Isherwood is another top British musician featured on several tracks, including the Vince Gill song on track 13, ‘I Never Really Knew You’ and supplying ALL the musical backing on track 4, a Hank Snow song Tony learnt in the 1950’s, ‘A Woman Captured Me’. In a country music career spanning over fifty years, he has taken his music worldwide, appearing at major festivals and venues in Australia and New Zealand, including Tamworth, Mildura, Parkes, Auckland and Noosa Heads. In the U.S.A. his appearances include the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Wheeling Jamboree in West Virginia, The Ernest Tubb Midnight Jamboree also in Nashville, the Grapevine Opry in Texas, as well as other venues in Maryland, Ohio, North Carolina and West Virginia. He also appeared at most of the leading country music festivals in Britain, including Wembley, Brighton, Peterborough and Yorkshire, and the world famous London Palladium,as well as many festivals in Holland, Switzerland, Germany and even Malta. He has released over 40 albums, including vinyl L.P's, most of which have been digitally converted, and are now available on CD. through his website.
