Reminiscent at times of a laid-back Stereo Total, the group is equally comfortable with straightforward, '60s-style pop like"Teen Love" and"Vacation" as well as darker, slinkier songs like"Other Ones" and"Sunsets." Cheap keyboards, organs, and brass decorate simple, lilting melodies like"Give a Little,""Cabaret," and"Contamination," and the unvarnished production and playing only adds to Boy, You Better Run Now's sweet, slightly off-kilter charm. A thoroughly enjoyable indie pop find.
