Ben has immense singing/songwriting talent, and is certain to make a splash on the national music scene at some point in the near future. I would describe Ben's sound as piano-driven pop with just enough rock and roll in the mix to bring the choruses to fist-pumping perfection. The piano/acoustic guitar ballads ('Hank' and 'When She Comes Around') are as good as any I've heard from Coldplay, and the more up-tempo tracks such as 'The Sophomore' reach out and grab the listener with Gavin DeGraw-esque hooks. Ben has a knack of weaving together artful, yet clear stories out of eloquent verses and epic choruses. 'The Kill,' 'The Sophomore,' and 'The Feeling' are textbook demonstrations of exactly how to write a chorus certain to be stuck in the music-lover's heads for days on end. 'When She Comes Around' and 'Hank' are amazing songs as well, and show Ben's ability to craft a ballad-story that may leave soft-hearted listeners in tears. I know many musicians (both amateur and professional), and rarely spend time endorsing any of them to others. Ben is a rare exception, and well-worth a listen. You should buy this album, and go see him live if you get the chance.
