BIOGRAPHYMovus is all about dreamy and ethereal guitars, landscapes, nostalgic noisy delay layers, pulsating bass lines and jazz influenced drumbeats, in a context of mythological meanings reflected in the name of the songs and of the band (a male fairy). The band is based in Guadalajara, Mexico, where a young indie/post rock scene is conquering new territories. Fully instrumental productions, sometimes crude, sometimes sad, but always beautiful is what we should expect from their first album that has been released on October 6th 2007 with 3er Piso Records. Since its short but intense life of around three years, Movus have worked and played with important international indie bands from all over the scene as Yo La Tengo, Explosions in the Sky, Tristeza, Mogwai, The Album Leaf, The Whitest Boy Alive, The Dears, The Stills, American Analog Set and Xiu Xiu to mention some. As well, the band had the opportunity to work creating the original theme (Midgard II) for the largest Cinema Festival in Latin America (Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara) because of the love the band has to cinematographic arts, which is deeply felt in the compositions. ABOUT THE ALBUM60 minutes of intense progressive-contemplative rock in an organic instrumental not looped, nor electronical way, has never been an easy task to compose. But this album will be tastefully easy to hear to all lovers of reflective mood music, shoegazers, cinema makers, guitar-layers obsessed or fantasy and sci-fi interested people. Art and deep feelings, melody and textures, noise and silence are the main focus of this first album of Mexican band Movus, which is in the understanding of having no boundaries of cultural differences to compose and express they personal interpretation of the way to do music inside the post-rock genre, if you want to call it like that. In a way, this universality is one of the richest things that modern music is experi-menting in so many countries, throughout the free convention of not using a language in a song, or not doing it in a radio friendly length song. Movus likes the idea of imagination, and in this statement of doing music has found its own way to express their inspiration. A conventional alignment of a rock band instru-ments (guitars, bass and drums) are the only things that were used to do the album, but you will hear a much more modern sound than you can imagine.
