Doubling on alto and soprano, Eric Marienthal sounds fine on this set, but the repertoire (mostly by band members) is generally less interesting. Joined by three of the members ofChick Corea's Elektric Band(pianistCorea, bassistJohn Patitucciand drummerDave Weckl) plus keyboardistMitchel Formanand a variety of other top studio players, Marienthal shows some individuality in his solos (along with the influence ofDavid Sanborn) but the somewhat commercial music (all clocking in between 4:09 and 5:02) was clearly recorded with potential radio airplay as the chief goal.
