iona is a five-piece instrumental - (yes, one can say post-rock) - band from leipzig, germany. well, leipzig is not known for it's music-scene but that doens't matter much because we live here and we like it a lot.　　we started as a project rather than a band in late 2004 but somewhere on the way we became a band and still are. we wrote the tracks that now make our debut 'a noise' more or less as the project consisting of two guitars and electronics but realized to make them sound right we have to transform into a band. so after bass and drums came into the sound in spring 2005 we rehearsed those tracks for about two months and than recorded them in a small studio in leipzig. both guitarists left germany after that to try living somewhere else but this was planned to be only a couple of months. during those month the recorded tracks were mixed by tom and then send to norbert who had them mastered in montreal at harris newmans greymarketmastering. harris newman did the mastering of some of our favourite bands, including montreals fly pan am and hangedup. in early april 2006 everyone was back and so we started playing shows wherever possible. in late october 2006 'a noise' was released on warmmilkrecords, the label started by iona's norbert and enrico.
